Silverbell Road is an essential route through the Tucson Mountains Foothills area, and it's the only continuous arterial corridor here. The route is historic in nature, environmentally sensitive, and culturally rich.
The voter-approved 2006 RTA plan already reconstructed Phase 1 of the Silverbell Road project (Grant Rd to Goret Rd). The RTA is now ready to restart construction of the section from Goret Rd to El Camino del Cerro (Phase 2) after extensive permitting delays. The section from ECDC to Ina Rd (Phase 3) will be under study and design very soon. Construction won't commence for several years. Although the RTA committed to having Phase 3 completed by 2031, the latest documents and project schedules indicate that's infeasible and that construction won't be complete until about 2034.
The next eight years of planning, design, and construction will be important to residents, businesses, school districts, and emergency services providers. This page will keep you updated, so check back often.
